Here’s How to Actually Get People to Read Your Blog


If blogging isn’t already part of your digital marketing strategy, it should be.

Blogging for your brand is an excellent way to increase your search rankings, tap into new audiences, create loyal customers and fans, and to stand out in a crowd of competitors. Blogging shows that your brand is the authority in your industry.

But, just because you’ve started a blog doesn’t necessarily mean it will be seen … let alone read.

Here are 3 ways to make sure your content actually gets consumed:

1. Make sure your content is using your business’ keywords: At best, your blog should try to incorporate words people would use to search for your products or services. While this will help your blog populate organic search results, this has limited effect on other promotional platforms like social media.

2. Post your blog to your business’ social media accounts: Right after you’ve hit the publish button, share your blog on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and any other social media site that your company utilizes. Sharing on social media right after publishing will help increase its search rankings. While sharing your blog is a great way to reach your existing fans and followers, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will lure in new audiences. For maximum results, you’ll want to advertise your blog on social media. Using Facebook ads, for example, you can target users who share your business’ interests and promote your content specifically to your company’s demographic (age, interests, sex, etc.)

3. Send out a newsletter: Email marketing still holds a lot of value in today’s digital space. If you have a customer email list, make sure to send a snippet of your blog to them. This will remind your customers about your services and products, bring them to your website and hopefully back in for business. Third party platforms like MailChimp can assist you with your email campaign. The more engaging your content is, the better chance they’ll return for more.

Listen, nobody said starting a blog was easy. The best thing your blog can be is consistent. Make a commitment to your fans. Whether it’s once a week or once a month, stick to a regular blogging schedule.

And always make sure you’re providing a service. Why should people read your blog? What are they getting out of it? Always ask yourself these two questions before you push out more content. While you are blogging for your business, never be overly promotional. The best kind of marketing is the type that goes completely unseen to the consumer.
